Harvest Hub

Located in the heart of Heretaunga’s industrial food precinct, Foodeast-Haumako is a Food Innovation Hub designed to bring together agritech and regional food companies. The project reflects the region’s agricultural heritage while creating a practical space for food industry businesses.

Taking cues from the gabled forms of local farm and industrial sheds, the design consists of two buildings, each tailored to the needs of its occupants. The cladding palette draws from the rich, fertile soils of Hawke’s Bay, grounding the project in its surroundings.

Building A, fronting Elwood Road, offers flexible office spaces for businesses of different sizes. A central laneway connects shared meeting rooms, an 80-seat conference space, a communal kitchen, and breakout areas—spaces designed to foster collaboration and idea-sharing.

Building B has a more industrial character, with four adaptable 575m² tenancies housed within a steel portal frame and clad in corrugated zincalume. Designed for tenants needing storage or processing space, the building features large roller doors and carefully planned circulation for truck access, supporting import and export businesses.

With market volatility and rising construction costs in mind, the project strikes a balance between quality design and cost-effectiveness. It is closely tied to Hawke’s Bay’s food and innovation sector, reinforcing the region’s role in food production and technology. Foodeast-Haumako is a hub for growth, sustainability, and the future of food innovation in Aotearoa.
